So I just got to testing my tap water and it has a nitrate level just slightly above 0ppm, much lighter then the 5ppm mark, if I had to guess it was around 1ppm. My water changing day isn't until Thursday so I think I'll wait till then to change a larger amount and I'll get back to you to see if either works. Nitrates won't. Ammonia is at 0 nitrite is between ppmppm and my nitrate was at pm but after doing a 50% water change as recommended to lower high nitrite levels the nitrate just disappeared and hasn't come back since ( days). My nitrite levels have stayed the same however and after 20% water changes everyday doesn't change.
